Pengana is headquartered in Sydney, Australia, with additional offices in Melbourne, Singapore, Edinburgh, Chicago and Lakeville (Connecticut). Pengana has over 50 staff members including more than 35 investment professionals. Pengana is owned by its directors and staff with National Australia Bank having a minority strategic stake in the company.
Pengana’s business comprises of two central investment strategies.
Pengana currently manages several equity strategies covering Asia-Pacific, Australian, and European markets. The equity investment team totals 30 investment professionals with an average experience in excess of 15 years. Each strategy is managed by selected fund managers who leverage off the research platform comprising generalists as well as industry and regional specialists.
The Pengana Global Volatility strategy is run by Alvin Wilkinson. He has over 22 years experience in trading S&P Index Options and has a team of eight working along side him, with an average experience in options markets of over 17 years. Alvin served on the Board of the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) for over eight years and is widely credited with the creation of the VIX (Volatility Index) during that period. This strategy is not directional and derives arbitrage returns from mispricing of volatility in equity index futures, options and other volatility-based instruments.
